It has taken me many years to get into my heart. For many years I did not love myself or anything about who I was. Of course, I hid this well. I think many of us do. We look successful, seem happy and life from the outside in paints a picture that is not always how it really is.

It took discovering the double life of Dickie Quick, my rapid exit from the marriage and falling apart to discover self-love.

And in herein lies the tricky bit. I told myself all kind of lies for years. I let my head govern my heart because I was too scared to speak my truth and ask for what I desired.

When I was young, my dad used to scare us by pulling his thumb off (see the video). He didn’t really, but we were so distracted by trying to work it out, we lost the wonder of it. And that’s what happens. We are so distracted that we rarely notice what our heart is calling out to us.

Right now, are you in your head or your heart? What are you paying attention to?

Being present is one of the keys.

There are many paths to enlightenment. Be sure to take one with a heart.

This week I am working with a friend of mine Debs Byers, and we are running a 10 day creating a heart connection experience in my group. Debs is bringing along her Healy frequency device and has it programmed for everyone who wants to receive the energy of coherence. I’m providing the prompts and affirmations.

Coherence is the connection of mind, body and soul. Or in my world, head, heart and gut. Same thing, really.

The heart is an amazing organ, which is much needed in the human. It pumps blood around every part of your body and provides oxygen and nutrients to every part of the body, including the brain. Without the heart, we’d be heading back to the soul place pretty quickly.

It is also where our wisdom resides. In the chakra system, it is the fourth chakra, which connects the three lower physical chakras with the three higher spiritual ones, connects our capacity for self-love and love out into the world.

To get to the heart, we need the head to get out of the way.

Except that is not always true. The mind is wonderful for taking our focus to heart and helping us to visualise what is possible. But the rest of the time, when it is nagging you to think about to-do lists, dinner or chocolate, it is not that helpful.

When I am making decisions, I usually go heart, gut and then head. Sometimes a bit of healthy logic is good and will support us to navigate through life. But living in the head all the time is not healthy.

When the head leads, the heart closes, and the gut heads off to the beach for ice cream.

When the head is in charge, we lose our sense of wonder with the world and often lose the courage to follow our hearts desires. This is when we are not truly experiencing life and are not connected to the essence of who we are and who we are becoming.

What if today you committed to opening your heart and becoming all you are and could be.

Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.

Aristotle

When the heart is open, you do the stuff that really means something to you and when you know that, you will want to be an inspiration to others.

What if you were to unlearn everything you had been taught about life and what you should think and do? That’s a bit scary, right?  Especially when you have spent a lifetime on a particular path.

I recently looked at what I was doing, and fundamentally, it seemed ok, but there was a bit of something missing. It took someone asking me about my journey of self-love to realise that I was not living my truth. I was in my heart every day, doing lots of things that I loved, but I was also letting my head get in the way.

So, I moved my head out of the way and started to go deeper with my heart connection.

How do you get out of your head and into your heart?

Now you will want to know how to do this. Well, erm, the truth is that there isn’t any particular way, but there is your way.

I connect with my heart every day, and I journal. I also practise loving kindness, nurture myself with good food and walk my doggies often, which also connects me with Mother Earth.

The heart is the gateway to the soul, and when you find what works for you, you’ll discover so much more about your purpose and what your heart desires.

Unlike the mind journey, the journey of the heart can be emotional and leave you feeling vulnerable. I know that if you are reading this, you are more courageous than you think you are. You are ready to explore worlds that you never knew existed.

Your reward will be love itself. Not in the sense of romantic love, but more that you will get off the hamster wheel and feel inner freedom.

This is when you will connect heart to heart with other people who want and need to hear your inspirational message.
