What The February Full Moon in Leo Teaches

by | Feb 10, 2025 | Moon Journey

I love full moons. They always remind me that this is a great time to let go—let go of who you no longer want to be. But how can you release something when you don’t even know what it is?

It’s a conundrum, a puzzle. Maybe that not knowing is part of the magic, drawing you in. Perhaps you are ready to explore the unknowing.

On 12 February 2025, the Full Snow Moon rises in Leo, bringing a powerful moment of illumination, reflection, and transformation. Known as the Snow Moon, this full moon symbolises resilience, strength, and clarity—qualities that are particularly meaningful for those of us on a journey of reinvention.

I’m reminded of my own forever journey of reinvention. My mind slips back, and in my mind’s eye, I see a drawer being opened. Inside, I find an old astrology report from 2017. Was it a good year? I pause, debating whether to look. But I decide it doesn’t matter. The past is past.

Then I pause—of course, it was a significant year. It was the year I chose to step into my truth. The year I became Dale.

A Name, A Shift, A Beginning

Dale is my middle name, and for as long as I can remember, I wanted to be Dale. But something always stood in my way. I couldn’t just change my name, could I?

I did.

It was the Lions Gate portal, a powerful moment in the spiritual calendar when the Sun aligns with Leo, opening a gateway for transformation. I spoke with a numerology expert, and lo and behold, Dale was auspicious. And so it was. I picked up the phone, called my mum, and told her: I am now Dale.

They say that one should expect a major shift during the Lions Gate. However, apart from changing my name, nothing of great significance happened—except for one quiet yet powerful shift: I felt at peace with who I was.

It was a new chapter. I thought more about what I desired for my life. But if I’m honest, I was still stuck.

I remember throwing the astrology report in the bin and later journaling about how far I had travelled. And in that moment, I knew—it had been a good year.

But that was 2017, and so much has happened since then. I am still Dale, and I wouldn’t change that for the world. Yet, in reflecting back, I can see where I hesitated to fully step into my purpose.

For years, I knew I was meant to guide others through reinvention, but I was scared. I stayed in the familiar—book coaching—because it was comfortable.

Then, around the full moon in October 2024, I made a decision: This is it. It’s time.

But I didn’t act immediately. Instead, I sat in the sacred void and listened. I let clarity find me.

And when I was ready, I pivoted.

It feels so utterly me—because it is.

It is a true expression of who I am, one that required confidence and heart-centred courage—just as Leo’s roaring energy encourages us to embody.

Lessons from the Full Snow Moon in Leo

1. The truth of who you are is already within you.

  • Reinvention isn’t about becoming someone else—it’s about removing what no longer serves you so you can return to yourself.
  • What aspects of yourself have been waiting for permission to emerge?

2. Courage doesn’t always look like action—it sometimes looks like stillness.

  • We often associate courage with bold action. But sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is pause, listen, and allow clarity to come before we leap.
  • Where in your life do you need to trust the sacred void before rushing into action?

3. When you follow your heart, the path becomes clear.

  • Even when I doubted, my heart always knew that reinvention was my purpose.
  • What is your heart whispering to you, and are you willing to listen?

This Full Snow Moon in Leo is an invitation to step into your boldest, most authentic self. To embrace self-expression, confidence, and heart-centred courage—not by force, but by allowing yourself to shine in your own unique way.

Full Moon Journal Prompts

Now, let’s explore this further with some journal prompts. You know I love journal prompts and deep reflection, so grab your journal and ponder these:

1. Bold Self-Expression

“If I had no fear of judgment or failure, how would I fully express myself in the world? What dreams, talents, or truths am I holding back, and what would it feel like to let them shine?”

  • Reflect on ways you might be suppressing your authentic voice or creativity.
  • Envision a day where you express yourself without limits—what does that look and feel like?
  • Identify one small action you can take this week to embody your fullest expression.

2. Confidence & Self-Worth

“When in my life have I felt the most radiant (such a lovely word) and confident? What were the circumstances, and what inner strengths did I tap into? How can I bring that energy into my life today?”

  • Look back at moments where you felt truly alive, strong, and self-assured.
  • Identify any patterns, mindset shifts, or support systems that contributed to your confidence.
  • Ask yourself: What is one empowering belief I can adopt right now to expand my confidence?

3. Heart-Centered Courage

“What does my heart deeply long for right now, and what fears are holding me back from pursuing it? If I were to move forward with courage, what would my first step be?”

  • Tune into your heart’s desires without filtering them through practicality or fear.
  • Explore the fears or doubts that surface—where do they come from?
  • Ask: If my heart were leading me with love, what is the next bold step I would take?

The Full Snow Moon in Leo: A Call to Reinvention

If you are standing on the brink of reinvention, this Full Moon is a call to courage—a reminder that personal transformation is not about becoming someone new but about reclaiming the fullness of who you have always been.

This is not about rushing forward or forcing change. It’s about listening. Listening to the whispers of your heart as it calls you toward a new chapter.

I have been here so many times—feeling lost, questioning everything, wondering: Is this it? What’s next? Is this all my life has been worth?

Letting Go to Move Forward

Back in 2014, I was shredding and burning my past as I prepared for the move of a lifetime to Spain. My then-husband’s dreadful betrayal had shattered the life I thought I had.

It was a strange time. I wanted to destroy everything connected to that chapter. Yet, I also found myself clinging to old files and payslips from the 1990s—as if they somehow validated my existence as if those papers could prove that I had been someone once.

This is where reinvention can deceive us. We think that by erasing the past, we will be free. But true reinvention isn’t about destruction—it’s about integration.

The Illusion of Constant Reinvention

I had been here before. Starting over. Letting go. Becoming someone new. But here’s the truth: You can keep reinventing yourself, but unless you truly believe in your own worth, the reinvention remains superficial.

This time, older and wiser, I did not run. Instead, I stepped into the sacred void and sat with myself. I can’t say it was easy. Reinvention never is. But I’ve learned that it gets easier—maybe with age, maybe with sheer bloody-mindedness—to shut out the noise and listen.

I must be growing up, eh?

The Gentle Stirring of Change

Perhaps you have felt this too—the quiet yet insistent pull, a whisper in your soul suggesting that there is more.

More to explore, to become, to experience.

As I sit with the emerging energy of the Full Snow Moon in Leo, I feel we are being offered a precious gift—the perfect celestial conditions for stepping boldly into reinvention.

The Ritual of Release

Letting go has become a ritual for me. And yet, there is still that moment—that tug of hesitation—before releasing things that no longer serve me.

  • Why did I ever want these things?
  • Why does anyone hold onto what has no use?

I ask myself this every time I see others accumulating more—another ornament, more dresses, more shoes. I have to bite my tongue. It all seems like such a waste. But to them, of course, there is a good reason why. I know I have been there – shudders.

The Roads We Take (and the Ones That Lead Us Back)

I have always been good at reinvention and rebranding—deciding this isn’t what I want and veering off in a new direction. Only to return and realise that it was just another detour.

A road to nowhere.

But of course, all roads lead us exactly where we need to be.

So many times, I have asked myself: Why did I do that? But I know now that every path—even the winding ones—had a purpose.

Yet, when I looked at my life, I saw no grand, world-changing event. I had not altered the course of history. I had not prevented a great disaster.

But I had changed my world.

I had evolved.

And, as I reflect on this Full Snow Moon in Leo, I know that I am still evolving.

And there is more to come.

So, before I go, I will leave you with a ritual.

Ritual for the Full Moon

This simple ritual can help you connect with the energy of this full moon, release what no longer serves you, and step into a space of clarity and self-empowerment.

1. Reflection and Release

  • Find a quiet space and light a candle.
  • Write down any fears, doubts, or limitations that have been holding you back.
  • Reflect on where you have been resisting your true self.
  • Safely burn or tear up the paper as a symbolic act of release.

2. Reclaiming Your Light

  • Stand in front of a mirror and look into your own eyes.
  • Say aloud: I am ready to step into my full power and live with confidence and joy.
  • Feel the truth of these words and allow them to settle within you.

3. Embodying Self-Expression

  • Move your body, sing, paint, write—engage in something that allows for self-expression.
  • Leo thrives in creativity, and the full moon is an ideal time to give voice to what is within.

Your Time to Shine

The Full Snow Moon in Leo is a reminder that reinvention is an ongoing process—one that requires both introspection and bold action. This full moon encourages stepping forward with courage, honouring personal truth, and embracing life with passion, confidence, and heart.

You are not too late. You are right on time. The world is waiting for you to step fully into your light.

Under this Snow Moon in Leo, give yourself permission to roar, to shine, to become. Your next chapter is waiting to be written. And courageous one, the pen has always been in your hands.

Let your journal be a mirror reflecting your true self, unfiltered and raw, capturing the essence of your journey through life.
