When someone says you should write a book, what do you think? Yes, let’s go for it or noooooo way wouldn’t I be able to do that.
For me, writing is in my blood, it’s how I heal. I’ll let you into a secret since April 2015 when I first purchased Grammarly I have written 172,229,749 words. They are not all published. Many of the healing books that I have written are just that for healing.
I wrote them, they served a purpose and that was that.
On the other hand, there are many other books that I have published and am pleased that I did. In my latest version of Writing To Heal, I share a short version of my story so far. And guess what? I had loads of stories already written. You will have them as well and very likely they are in your journal.
You might think well it’s ok for you to suggest that I ‘should’ write a book. But it may not be for the reasons you think. Naturally, a book will build your brand and your business, however, I am an even bigger fan of writing to heal and then using that to support other’s healing.
Healing in this context can be anything that is transformational and which brings a sense of wholeness back to the thing that needed to be healed.
Words have the power to change lives. Yours, mine and a large number of people who need to know that if it is possible in the world for you, it is possible for them.
And I do I hear this a lot ‘oh yeah, I’ve been told I should write a book but…’
But what? Who would read it? I have nothing interesting to say?
If there is one thing I want you to know, it is this – your story, your journey, the changes you made, your awakening and your inspirational message will change someone’s else’s life.
And they – your ideal customers (readers) are waiting to hear your story. They are waiting to heal.
How can I be so sure that writing a book is for me?
I know because I work with people who think that they are ordinary every day and yet to me, they are extraordinary and have words of gold to share with the world. When I hear what they have been through and what they want to write, I can visualise the story coming alive. As well as seeing how they can use this book to build their brand and business while doing just a tad more healing.
Writing healing books is a choice, I unconsciously made years ago. I chose to specialise in healing books after working with people who needed their mentor to hold space for them when the stories brought stuff up. Writing a book like this is not just a book publishing process – ok – yes it is, writing, editing and publishing etc – but it is also a healing process.
I believe, that people are drawn to me because I can help them process their emotions while supporting them to get that book out.
When you have a story worth sharing (have faith, that you do) and a desire to support others, people will respond and take action. Your ideal reader is waiting to improve their lives and is willing to take action. It doesn’t have to be massive action, just one small thing that tips the scales and creates the courage and confidence to make more changes or to remove fear and create self-belief.
It seems to me that there is little point in experiencing life if we cannot use those lessons to support others.
And of course, to grow ourselves.
In every story, there is a challenge, lessons and the gifts that helped you heal and the gift you have for the world.
Naturally, there is a way to tell the story, so that it captivates the hearts and souls of others. However, once you have the idea and know what slice of life, you can outline it, create a chapter framework and write. A good mentor, followed up by a great editor will help to keep you on track, help you to find and refine your voice and make sure the book and all of the ‘stuff’ that needs to happen around it go smoothly.
When you think about your story, it is not as if you have to have had a dreadful life. It is more that you have experiences that others need to hear and of course, you use your words responsibly.
Your story will express your values and provide your reader with a sense of your purpose. You will write to emotionally connect.

Write a book, tell your story and heal
When you are emotionally connected to your book, your words will continue to heal you and when they reach the hearts of others, help them to heal.
Healing isn’t always about humans it could mean that you have helped to heal organisations or causes. Books have been altering people’s perceptions for centuries. Stories are how humanity learns, transforms and heals.

When you write you will find yourself
– you truly will. You will also find the people you are meant to support. You may never meet them or hear from them, but know that because of you, they could have made one small change that altered the course of their life. And in turn, that action helped someone else.
Know that your story and inspirational message can change and help heal lives. Pick the part that you want to share, start today, explore your personal story and think about how you can make a difference.
Also know that writing your book will give you clarity of purpose, help you to refine your message and give you a tool to use in many ways such as coaching, consultancy and online courses.
One question you may be asking is, does everyone who writes a healing story publish their book? No, they don’t. They sometimes come to me thinking that they will write and publish. Often they write, heal and go on their merry way.
Other people write a chapter in the self-love book project.
In this way, they can share their story and leave the responsibility to others to publish and market. They know that they have written a legacy chapter, their voice will be heard and of course, it’s far easier.
You will know what is right for you – write a book or write a chapter. And you will also know if what you want is to write to heal and not publish – at least not yet.
What I know is that when I write, in whatever way I am looking back, as an observer and healing old wounds again. And I am having a great laugh at my antics. This article about my inner bully came from my journal. Because of writing, I am able to process my stuff easily today and use it to help me to move forward.
So here is the thing about writing your book or chapter
There is always the right time and we are always on the right path. You will know when you read this if it is your time for your story to be heard. I say go for it.
